NEW LONDON — The New London Green Party has nominated four city residents to
run for City Council and Board of Education in the 2007 municipal elections.

*Kenric Hanson*, who narrowly missed election to the Board of Education two
years ago, was endorsed to run for City Council. "Now is the time," said
Hanson, "to move our community forward with sustainable development and
prudent investments in education and municipal infrastructure. New London's
future generations will reap the quality of life that we are willing to work
for today."

New London native *Art Costa*, also running for a seat on Council, is
president of OceanView Associates, LLC, a consulting firm that provides
business process management. He holds an MA in Cognitive Science and was
formerly an IT executive at Cigna. A member of New London Earth Day, Costa
seeks to build community through environmental stewardship, grassroots
economics and a cooperative approach to public safety.

Longtime early childhood educator and advocate *Ronna Stuller* was endorsed
as a candidate for Board of Education. "A high-quality educational system
is an investment in our future," said Stuller. In order to forge a real
partnership among schools, parents and the community-at-large, she promises
to work towards a more transparent budget process, creative use of our
school facilities and the involvement of parents as full partners in their
children's learning.

*Davana Grabel*, also a candidate for Board of Education, is the mother of
two young daughters who have been educated at home since birth. Grabel
favors a holistic approach to curriculum and sees tremendous potential in
the development of magnet schools. She and her husband Justin are active in
New London's arts community and founded Applied Sustainable Aquaculture, a
non-profit corporation devoted to restoring coral reefs.

The Green Party is committed to sustainability, social and economic justice,
grassroots democracy and nonviolence. Due to their firm belief that
government should be accountable to its citizens, New London Green Party
candidates do not accept contributions from corporations, lobbyists,
political action committees or labor unions. The New London Greens have run
candidates in New London municipal elections since 2001.
