Hello all.  On Friday March 23, 2007, 11 am -12 pm at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford A Better Way Foundation is holding a press conference with Montel Williams in support of House Bill 6715.  An Act Concerning the Palliative Use of Marijuana.  This bill is the medical marijuana bill.

Some points about medical marijuana: (See attached fact sheets for background)
1.  Marijuana use among young people decreased in States with Medical Marijuana Laws
2.  Marinol does not work for people if they are taking it for nausea
3.  83% of CT residents support adults access to marijuana for medical purposes if a doctor prescribes it
4.  Patients in Other States Have Legal Access Medical Marijuana
5.  Recent studies have found that marijuana eases foot pain in HIV patients
6.  Montel get's it!!!! (see attached video)

House Bill: 6715 An Act Concerning the Palliative Use of  Marijuana is designed to provide patients and caregivers an affirmative defense in Connecticut courts.  

No matter whether you agree with marijuana use for medicinal purposes or not the bottom line is this, "Should people go to prison for using a treatment that helps them enjoy a better quality of life?"  This is not a public health issue, this is not a criminal justice issue, this is not a moral issue. Plan and simple this is an issue of compassion!!!
