I think I've only spoken with John Orman once by phone, but I've followed
his career, especially his very clever takeover of the CFL party. Joe
Lieberman created the CFL party when he ran in 2006, but there were no
registered members until Orman changed his party affiliation, called a
convention, and took control, turning it into an anti-Lieberman party. Glad
to see they're running some candidates, but I don't know what their strategy
is. They are not cross-endorsing, except in the 75th District (Waterbury),
where they cross-endorsed (or were cross-endorsed by) the Independent Party.
The only one of their candidates with a website up yet, John Mertens (
http://mertensforstaterep.blogspot.com ), was connected with the Independent
Party in the past. He is pro-gay marriage, anti-bottled water, but
pro-nuclear power.

That is indeed an interesting question. I did a little digging and
uncovered this website/blog:
http://ctforlieberman.blogspot.com/

It appears as though the candidates listed represent the faction of
CFL that is hostile to Joe. This is their statement or what they
stand for:
The Connecticut for Lieberman Party (CFL) rejects the fraud
perpetrated on the members of this party and the citizens of
Connecticut by Joe Lieberman when he used the creation of this party
to get on the general election ballot in 2006. The CFL is an
independent, anti-war, anti-corruption, pro-fiscal responsibility, pro-
democracy party, that stands for individual liberties and real problem-
solving in government. The CFL wants everyone to know that in the
United States of America, voters are free to join any party they wish,
and participate in the democratic process according to the laws of
Connecticut and the United States.

Do any of the Fairfield Greens know John Orman, a professor at
Fairfield U., who is apparently the individual who initiated the
takeover of the party by Lieberman critics?
