Thanks for your input. 

I hope that we can have another meeting after this one that will include
other minor political parties.  What I hope we can accomplish during this
meeting is to start the ball rolling.  It's sort of like biting the hand
that starves us.  You have to take small bites until they get the message.
If we get one bill out this meeting that's progress. If we can get another
meeting with minor parties in attendance (that agree with our narrative)
than even better. If we can get a dialog going with the committee (where
there is real give and take) that produces transformation rather than
translation of the ballot access and other laws that starve us, that is a
success.  So we have to present to them our unique narrative on what we
experienced in 2008 and hope that they will understand that we need a
re-vision of the major party dominant narrative that is not an accurate or
realistic representation of what is really going on during elections in CT.
That's my take on it.

Hello Mike,

Just wondering if the Government and Election Committee will also be
inviting other third parties to share their experiences at some point.
Seems to me that this may be significant because other groups, in all
likelihood, had similar experiences to ours.  As a consequence  (and
assuming that those other third parties did have similar experiences to
ours), the Green Party's presentation would be less likely to  be seen in
isolation and would not be viewed as unique or unusual.

All issues related to ballot access, petitioning, vote counting, audits, and
campaign finance requirements are on the table.  I have included a set of
concerns in the attachment to this e-mail and would like some feedback from
people before we go into the meeting. We would like the GAE committee to
support and raise bills that will address our concerns, experience, and
narrative.

A priority for me would be changes in ballot access law that reduces the
number of signatures required to obtain ballot access.  I think we should
also ask for oversight  from the committee on the recent actions of the CT
Sec. Of The State in relationship to write-in votes and audits(write-in
votes are not counted in audits).

Several Green congressional candidates will be at the meeting to testify as
to their experiences during the last election with ballot access
requirements. Everyone is invited to attend.  They are giving us 45 minutes
to present our ideas.  We will meet at the LOB cafeteria at 1:30PM on WED to
have a quick meeting before our encounter with the GAE Co-Chairs.
