The Price Tag of Being Young:*Climate Change*and Millennials' Economic
Future (pdf)
<https://nextgenclimate.global.ssl.fastly.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/NGC-Report-The-Price-Tag-of-Being-Young-2016-0820-single-pages-1-1.pdf>
compares some of the high costs millennials will face in the "new
inequality economy"—such as student debt, child care costs, stagnant
wages, as well as financial and *job insecurity—against the fiscal
impacts of unmitigated global warming...."The fact is," the report
states, "unchecked climate change will impose heavy costs on millennials
and subsequent generations, both directly in the form of reduced incomes
and wealth, and indirectly through likely higher tax bills as extreme
weather, rising sea levels, drought, heat-related health problems, and
many other climate change-related problems take their toll on our
society."...The impacts from climate costs alone, the report finds, are
"comparable to Great Depression-era losses." The study employs a model
developed by researchers from Stanford University and University of
California at Berkeley that measures the effects of rising temperatures
on long-term economic growth and national productivity drawing on 50
years of data from 166 countries....*

/VOX The 2016 Republican party platform mentions climate change only to
dismiss it...So it's become really easy to forget that the Republican
Party wasn't always compelled to reject scientific evidence on climate
change...In 2008, the Republican presidential candidate actually
campaigned on a promise to fight global climate change. The party
platform that year said: "The same human economic activity that has
brought freedom and opportunity to billions has also increased the
amount of carbon in the atmosphere. While the scope and long-term
consequences of this are the subject of ongoing scientific research,
common sense dictates that the United States should take measured and
reasonable steps today to reduce any impact on the environment. Those
steps, if consistent with our global competitiveness will also be good
for our national security, our energy independence, and our economy."/

Slate's Eric Holthaus: Media "Missed" The "Underlying Story" That "We're
Going To Start Seeing More" Of These Disasters...HOLTHAUS: Yeah. Even
flooding is a larger killer on average than tornadoes and hurricanes in
the U.S. on an annual average. And when was the last time you saw TV cut
in for a flood warning or something like that.

/*NY Times 1981 article: STUDY FINDS WARMING TREND THAT COULD RAISE
SEA LEVELS
<http://www.nytimes.com/1981/08/22/us/study-finds-warming-trend-that-could-raise-sea-levels.html>*
Walter Sullivan "A team of Federal scientists says it has detected an
overall warming trend in the earth's atmosphere extending back to the
year 1880. They regard this as evidence of the validity of the
''greenhouse'' effect, in which increasing amounts of carbon dioxide
cause steady temperature increases. ...The seven atmospheric scientists
predict a global warming of ''almost unprecedented magnitude'' in the
next century. It might even be sufficient to melt and dislodge the ice
cover of West Antarctica, they say, eventually leading to a worldwide
rise of 15 to 20 feet in the sea level. In that case, they say, it would
''flood 25 percent of Louisiana and Florida, 10 percent of New Jersey
and many other lowlands throughout the world'' within a century or less. "

Uploaded on Jun 26, 2009 Climate science is not completely dependent on
climate models. There are many threads of supporting evidence. Still, it
is clear that climate models are telling us something important that we
