profound impact on wildfire activity in the Western United
States over the last few decades, according to several recent
studies. And with more warming all but inevitable due to the
climate-altering greenhouse gases humans have already put into
the atmosphere, California and other Western states are likely
to face ever-more-dangerous fire conditions going
forward...."When spring temperatures are high, snow melts
faster, soils dry out, plants get into a more drought-stressed
condition, and they can probably start burning earlier," Falk
said. "We can have a longer fire season then, which means it's
easier to have fires that will burn over larger areas, because

can reduce a portfolio's "carbon footprint" by 70 percent while
keeping the tracking error to the MSCI World Index benchmark
within 0.3 percent. This suggests that avoiding most high carbon
emitters can be done without fundamentally changing a
portfolio's risk-reward characteristics....Regulation,
incidentally, is where the short-term and the long-term meet
when it comes to climate changes. This makes sense, given that
well-designed regulations bring a company's short-term
incentives in line with society's long-term goals.</div>

arguing that the investigations are an infringement on the
