Fowarded by the USGP International Committee:

Some concluding comments from an article about Galloway:

"Ultimately, however, Galloway unseated a black MP because the majority of the
black community of Bethnal Green and Bow chose him. That community made its
decision, not on the basis of race, religion or gender, but instead on the basis
of politics.

They deemed that a white, left-wing MP with a track record in defending the
rights of Palestinians, opposing wars on the Muslim community, and fighting for
social justice in areas of social housing, education, crime, workers' rights and
so on, was a better representative of their views and interests than a pro-war,
right-wing black MP pursuing US foreign policy."
