Deshefy asks for correction to sample ballot

Montville, Conn. — G. Scott Deshefy, the Green Party candidate for the 2nd Congressional District, said his name and Green Party presidential candidate Ralph Nader’s name were obscured by the word “void” written diagonally on a sample ballot posted at a site in Quaker Hill.

The sample ballots are offered to voters to review before casting their votes.

Deshefy said the poll workers apologized, told him it was unintentional and posted a different sample ballot with the word “void” written across the bottom.

“A lot of people will see, ‘Void,’ and say that’s off limits,” Deshefy said of the original sample, adding he wondered how many other towns had the same problem with ballots.

As part of his campaigning, Deshefy stopped by the Mohegan Fire Co., where his great uncle Emil Deshefy is listed among the original members.
