The new*climate change*story must be one of rapid transition

*Climate change*is like the type of film director who, having
already thrown the audience into seemingly inescapable peril, keeps
piling on the jeopardy.
*How to stay sane in the face of climate change

Breathe. Relax. Be present in the moment.
Physical consequences aren’t the only danger of the climate crisis.
... focusing merely on the physical impacts of climate change fails
to take into account the mental and spiritual toll that living
through extreme weather disasters, or even just dealing with the
relentless stream of apocalyptic-seeming climate news, can have on a
person. And that toll is very, very real.... The mental health
consequences of climate change, according to U.S. Global Change
Research Program’s Climate and Health Assessment, can range from
relatively minor — minimal stress, fleeting anxiety — to full-on
clinical disorders like anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic
stress disorder. And for people with preexisting mental health
conditions, the trauma of extreme weather disasters can be even more
striking: A study looking at veterans in the aftermath of Hurricane
Katrina, for instance, found that those with preexisting PTSD were
11.9 times more likely to screen for a new mental illness. Another
study on the rate of suicide in Miami-Dade County in the six months
following 1992’s Hurricane Andrew, found that the average rate of
suicide doubled throughout the county to two per month in the wake
of the hurricane, compared with one per month before.....one of the
easiest ways to deal with the mental health trauma associated with
climate change is simply talking about it ...climate silence is also
dangerous for mental health because it forces people to cope with
the stressors of climate change in a way that is incredibly
isolating, and it prevents people from forming the kinds of
community bonds that have been proven to be the most helpful in
rebuilding resilience directly after a climate
catastrophe....https://thinkprogress.org/how-to-stay-sane-in-the-face-of-climate-change-1fadca65c49#.om1lnkt7d
Donald Trump's Opinion on*Climate Change*Is Dumber Than You Could
Possibly Imagine

The bad news is that Trump's lack of commitment to the cause
of*climate-science*denial is rooted in a comprehensive failure to
grasp the issue....Trump’s lack of commitment to the cause of
climate-science denial is rooted in a comprehensive failure to grasp
the issue. The few snippets of concrete factual information he has
to ground his beliefs are mostly false. His New York Times interview
forced the president-elect to grapple with the issue in more depth
than he did at any time during the campaign ...The portrait that
comes out of the interview is one of almost complete ignorance.

We're now two weeks removed from Election Day and about two months
from Inauguration Day. Since I launched a discussion here about
whether or not you all agree with President-elect Trump's assertion
that*climate change*is a hoax perpetrated by the by the Chinese,
China has actually publicly disputed the notion. ...Interestingly,
those that agree with Trump and Myron Ebell (Trump’s hand-picked
lead for the transition at the Environmental Protection Agency) that
climate change is a fiction devised to either sink the economy or
expand the power of governments (or both) seem to be a small
minority, at least in our little discussion group. Almost nobody has
disputed the most basic assertion that something is going on with
the climate.

increases, wheat yield will decline.
*Ethics and Climate: Reflections on the Marrakech Climate Negotiations
In Light of the American Election
<https://ethicsandclimate.org/2016/11/23/reflections-on-the-marrakech-climate-negotiations-in-light-of-the-american-election/>*
"The fog of sadness triggered by the Trump election coupled with the
lack of visible progress on increasing the ambition of national
commitments so urgently needed to keep warming to non-dangerous
levels initially created a dark mood in the negotiating complex.
However, as the negotiations continued into the second week, at
least this writer was buoyed by the determination, if not outright
defiance, of people and countries from around the world that I kept
experiencing during the last few days of the COP...
Also all countries ... understood that climate change was a very
serious global threat that urgently required the cooperation of all
nations to prevent catastrophic harm to people and ecological
systems on which life depends...
Several times throughout the COP I heard people proclaim defiantly
that they were going to "Trump Proof" the world. All claimed they
were going to go ahead with or without the United States. Several
claimed that if the United States pulled out of the Paris deal, they
would pursue economic sanctions against the United States."

**November 24, 2008: In an interview on MSNBC's "The Rachel Maddow
Show," Robert Redford denounces the Bush administration's plan to
have the Bureau of Land Management hold an oil and gas lease auction
in Salt Lake City, Utah on December 19, 2008. That auction would
become famous for Tim DeChristopher's act of civil disobedience
during the event, as well as the auction's illegality.
