[Activists and candidates make a declaration]
*The No Fossil Fuel Money Pledge*
Are you a candidate or elected official interested in taking the No
Fossil Fuel Money Pledge?
Continue reading to find out how you can join in the effort to protect
the health of our families, our climate, and our democracy.
The Pledge:

I pledge to not take contributions from the oil, gas, and coal
industry and instead prioritize the health of our families, climate,
and democracy over fossil fuel industry profits.
Taking the pledge means that you and your campaign will adopt a
policy to not knowingly accept any contributions over $200 from the
PACs, lobbyists, or SEC-named executives of fossil fuel companies --
companies whose primary business is the extraction, processing,
distribution, or sale of oil, gas, or coal. ...[Click page] for an
indicative list of these companies - this is not a complete list,
but an indication of the type of fossil fuel company covered by the
    pledge.

How to Take the Pledge

    1. Take a photo or video of yourself signing the pledge (printable)
or create a shareable graphic that includes your name, seat you're
running for, and the text of the pledge.
    2. Post the photo, video, or graphic on your website or social media
    accounts with the hashtag #nofossilfuelmoney
    3. Fill out this form to notify the No Fossil Fuel Money Coalition.

[Climate Refugees - documentary presents some stunning images and
difficult message]
*Fleeing climate change - the real environmental disaster | DW Documentary*
DW Documentary
Published on May 1, 2019k

How many millions of people will be forced to leave their homes by 2050?
This documentary looks at the so-called hotspots of climate change in
the Sahel zone, Indonesia and the Russian Tundra.

Lake Chad in the Sahel zone has already shrunk by 90 percent since the
1960s due to the increasing heat. About 40 million people will be forced
to migrate to places where there is enough rainfall. Migration has
always existed as a strategy to adapt to a changing environment. But the
number of those forced to migrate solely because of climate change has
increased dramatically since the 1990s. It is a double injustice: after
becoming rich at the expense of the rest of the world, the
industrialized countries are now polluting the atmosphere with their
emissions and bringing a second misfortune to the inhabitants of the
poorer regions. One of them is Mohammed Ibrahim: as Lake Chad got hotter
and drier, he decided to go where the temperatures were less extreme and
there was still a little water, trekking with his wife, children and 70
camels from Niger to Chad and then further south. The journey lasted
several years and many members of his herd died of thirst. Now he and
his family are living in a refugee camp: they only have seven camels
left. Mohammed is one of many who have left their homelands in the Sahel
- not because of conflict and crises, but because of the high
temperatures. He's a real climate refugee.

[denier showdown]*
**Beto respectfully but forcefully disagrees with climate change denier*
Beto's events usually have a lot of Q&A, and it is no surprise that
Republicans sometimes show up to try to ask "gotcha" questions.   During
his Senate campaign, Beto's response to the NFL kneeling controversy
that went viral was an earlier example where a Cruz plant asked the
question thinking it would trip Beto up.   One thing that impresses me
about Beto is he is able to handle these types of questions in stride,
staying calm and sticking to his values.

Here is an example from this week where a climate denier asks what he
thinks are "gotcha" questions to Beto.

*This Day in Climate History - May 9, 2007 - from D.R. Tucker*
May 9, 2007: Grist.org reports on News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch's plans
to make his company carbon-neutral and conscious of climate risk, plans
that apparently did not involve ending the Fox News Channel's fixation
on attacking climate science.
