ID and it's possibly not being passed on to VirtualBox as something valid
to load up. I could certainly be wrong. Any further ideas?

You're correct, this is the symptom of the Windows 10 USB issue. The USB
descriptor had an error in it which causes Windows 10 to reject it
completely (earlier versions of Windows would log the error and leave it
hanging around for other software to use). You need to update the firmware
on the Yardstick One so that Windows sees it correctly.

Unfortunately you'll need a Linux host or a bootable Linux distro to do
this. A working firmware file can be downloaded from here:

to run rfcat -r first then plug in the dongle. Make sure the host OS
releases the dongle to the guest. Which reminds me, make sure you have the
VB set to pass through USB devices.

I've also got python and RFCat installed on the Linux guest (as well as the
udev script), but 'rfcat -r' just reports "No Dongle Found". I haven't got
an older Windows host (i.e. Windows 7, referenced in threads above), from
which it seems possible to recognize and re-flash the YARDStick One.
